We wanted to give a little preview about what it is we’re wanting to do with Little Book Selves.
What is this about?
The core of the Little Book Selves (LBS) idea is customizable content for kids where they can experience stories by seeing them through their Little Book Self.
So how will we do that?
We’re working on the first teaser app for this concept now and expect it to be completed in March or April 2020.
This first instance will be a ‘show-me-don’t-tell-me’ title with two main parts:
- Customization | This will be an early look at how kids will be able to make customized Little Book Selves and then engage the content with those avatars.
- Interactions | We want to give a early look at how we envision this content working.
This is a work in progress look at our main character before we make it all pretty .
What Kind of customization?
Early texture work
- Hair | We have an initial set with a range of ethnic options
- Skin | We’re currently working with 8+ full palette swaps for a wide range of skin tones. Freckles too!
- Face Shape | We’ll either be doing face swaps or blends to accomplish this. Iterating.
- Ears | We have a number of options here.
- Teeth | Missing teeth, big teeth, we have an assortment of options.
- Eye color
- Lashes | Yay or nay
- Nose | Iterating on about a dozen options now
In the next release we’ll work through the clothing customization but we have a number of options ready to finalize.

Why a Teaser?
We want to engage other artists who might want to tell stories with our little character and invite them to create content as well.
After the teaser is done…
- We’ll be working on the portal app and a couple of internal titles for the portal. That portal is where all these different stories will be accessible to kids.
- We’ll also launch a method to teach other animators/artists how to make content and give them the tools to do so.
